Ranch Seasoning Blend

Ranch Seasoning Blend

I know so many of us love ranch seasoning or dressing, but it can be difficult to find healthier options at the grocery store. Most of the pre-made ranch mixes, dressings and dips found at the store contain MSG and hidden sources of free glutamate.

Free glutamate is no longer bound to other amino acids and may be absorbed much more rapidly causing spikes in the concentration of glutamate in the blood. This can cause anxiety, insomnia, depression, and digestive symptoms in those sensitive.

Having glutamate in our bodies isn’t the issue (we produce it naturally!). The problem lies in eating too many foods that contain glutamic acid. In other words, it’s an overall load issue. You can learn more about Glutamate Sensitivity Here

This week, I’ve got you covered with a simple Ranch Seasoning Blend that you can make at home and keep on hand. I’ll share how you can turn this into a dressing or a dip, too!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Dried Parsley
  • 2 tbsp Dried Dill Weed
  • 3 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 3 tbsp Onion Powder
  • 3 tbsp Dried Onion Flakes
  • 3 tbsp Dried Celery
  • 4 tsp Dried Chives
  • 4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

For the dip, mix a few tablespoons of the seasoning blend, to taste, into 8 oz of dairy-free sour cream (you may use regular sour cream if you tolerate dairy). For the dressing, mix a few tablespoons of the seasoning blend, to taste, into 8 oz. coconut milk yogurt or plain greek yogurt. Thin out with your favorite milk alternative.
