This year, I decided to take on a challenge I never saw coming. I made the bold decision to train for a bikini and bodybuilding competition. Yes, you read that right! At 51 years young, I jumped headfirst into a sport that seemed totally out of reach for me.
I’ve always been consistent with my workouts—I call it my daily non-negotiable. But at some point, I hit a plateau. I was showing up but not truly pushing myself, and I knew something had to change. For years, I thought I was eating "healthy", and I was… up to a point! I stuck to clean, whole foods and avoided processed junk. But I wasn’t seeing the changes I wanted, and my energy wasn’t where I thought it should be. That’s when I was introduced to a new discovered macro tracking—and everything shifted.
Instead of just eating healthy, I started tracking my macros to ensure I was getting the right balance of proteins, carbs, and fats for my goals. I used to primarily eat proteins and fats, fearing carbs would make me gain weight. But once I learned how to properly fuel my body with carbohydrates, my energy skyrocketed, and my workouts improved. At the end of the day, your mindset determines your results. For years, I was just going through the motions with my workouts and nutrition, expecting changes without having a clear goal.
